Vacuum Effect

When cats are removed from a location, more cats tend to move in.
That’s not opinion, it’s ecology.

This is called the Vacuum Effect

Cats are drawn to safe, unclaimed spaces with food or shelter. If one group is removed, another fills the gap... often leading to more kittens, more fighting, and more complaints.

TNR works by:

  • Fixing and returning cats to hold the territory
  • Preventing newcomers from taking over
  • Gradually reducing colony size over time

That’s why TNR is endorsed by animal welfare groups around the world, and why it works in cities like El Paso.
